Question 1

Which platforms does Beyond Translate support?

Accepted Answer

The native macOS app is available as a TestFlight beta. Windows and Linux versions are coming soon.

Question 2

Which translation services are supported?

Accepted Answer

You can connect OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, DeepSeek, Qwen, Kimi, Zhipu, Doubao, SiliconFlow and any OpenAI-compatible API with your own key, or use macOS system translation and on-device models without one.

Question 3

How is my text handled?

Accepted Answer

Connected providers may process the text or images you send. Data handling depends on the services you enable. Only use trusted providers and review their privacy policies for sensitive content.

Question 4

Do I need to create an account before using it?

Accepted Answer

No. Core features work without an account. An optional one-time license removes the daily request limits listed under Pricing. AI providers need your own API key.

Question 5

How much does Beyond Translate cost?

Accepted Answer

Core features are free, with up to 100 translation requests and 50 screenshot text requests a day. A one-time US$9.99 license removes those limits and includes future updates; there is no subscription. AI providers you connect bill their own fees separately.

Question 6

Is Beyond Translate the same app as Biyi?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Biyi (比译) is the former name of Beyond Translate; the app now goes by Beyond Translate everywhere.

Question 7

Can I use it without an API key?

Accepted Answer

Yes. macOS system translation and on-device models work without a key. Connecting a cloud AI provider such as OpenAI or DeepSeek requires your own API key.
